ATIEL Compliance Policy

ATIEL is committed to supporting continuous improvement in the development, manufacture and marketing of automotive engine lubricants that fully satisfy the European performance and quality requirements deemed necessary by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) for satisfactory engine life and operation. 

The ATIEL Compliance Policy is aimed at supporting lubricant marketers who make valid performance claims against the ACEA Oil Sequences, for which compliance with the European Engine Lubricant Quality Management System (EELQMS) is required.

The Policy aims to encourage greater compliance across the industry through the continuous monitoring of automotive engine lubricant quality in the market and the exchange of information and technical data that supports the education of lubricant marketers.

It also provides a framework for supporting marketers, who are responsible for all aspects of product liability, to take corrective action to address non-compliance issues.  The Compliance Policy can be downloaded below:

ACEA 2016 Oil Sequences

This new update provides:
- A new revision of the ACEA sequences with the introduction of the new CEC L-107-19 test and limits (A/B and C categories) that replaces the Daimler M271 test and limits.
- An update to the ASTM D892 method (used to quantify the foaming tendency of engine oil) in respect of the applicability of test Option A (with or without the Option A sample pre-test procedure is permitted)
