ATIEL publishes new lists of Letter of Conformance signatories
ATIEL has published on its website new lists of lubricant marketers and base stock manufacturers who have signed Letters of Conformance (LoC) that confirm adherence to the requirements of the European Engine Lubricants Quality Management System (EELQMS) and the ATIEL Code of Practice.
The lists contain all those companies that have signed and submitted to ATIEL, which administers the EELQMS, new versions of the LoCs, which came into effect on 1 November 2016 and are valid until 31 October 2017.
The new list of lubricant marketer signatories now also includes details of the lubricant brands that are covered by each marketer’s LoC. This is designed to bring greater transparency around the products on the market making performance claims against the ACEA Oil Sequences and which have been developed in accordance with the EELQMS.
The EELQMS is the only quality system that can be used to support claims against the ACEA Sequences, which set the minimum performance specifications for lubricants used in different European automotive engine categories. Compliance with the EELQMS allows lubricant marketers to include those claims on their product labelling and documentation.
Both base stock manufacturers’ and lubricant marketers’ LoCs are valid for set periods and signatories are required to reaffirm their commitment to EELQMS by re-signing the LoC for a further validity period as the current one ends. The lists are regularly updated to add new signatories.
LoC signatories are eligible for technical training events organised by ATIEL and designed to support formulators and marketers in their understanding of the EELQMS and compliance with its requirements.
Lubricant marketers’ products may also be included in the independent quality surveys that ATIEL conducts to test the validity of performance claims made for products in the market. Individual LoC signatories receive in confidence results of any of their products tested as part of the survey work.
The new lists of LoC signatories are available on the ATIEL website at www.atiel.org/code-of-practice/letters-of-conformance.
