New ATIEL President appointedMarco Digioia, a Brussels-based transport industry expert, has been appointed as the new president of ATIEL, the Technical Association of the European Lubricants Industry.
Marco took up his position in January 2018, following the retirement of former Marco has 14-years’ experience of proactive and successful positioning and lobbying in Brussels on behalf of transport organisations. He holds a Master's Degree in Law with a Specialisation in European Affairs, International Relations and Diplomacy. Before taking the position of ATIEL President, Marco worked as Director for Government Affairs at Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Europe, responsible for representing regulatory, policy and maritime industry positions towards the EU institutions and other relevant national, European and international stakeholders. He was also member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum. Prior to that, he worked for several road haulier associations at national and European level and was also transport expert representing business at CEN (European Committee for Standardisation). Commenting on his appointment, Marco said: “It is my intention to build on the good work of my predecessor in order to continue to promote the lubricants industry to key stakeholders and address the challenges we face through a clear and shared strategy."
